Surfing is an essential past time in Cornwall and a great way to make the most of Cornwall’s world-class beaches. In this guest blog the team behind Cornwall based surf brand Finisterre let us in on their 5 favourite summer surf spots and beach hangouts in Cornwall.
Perranporth
Busy in the summer but rise early or sneak in before dark and you’ll often be rewarded with fun waves with just a few out. Lifeguarded throughout the summer.
Gwithian
If there’s a small wave running then Gwithian is our go to spot. Again another long beach with peaks all along, if you’re prepared to walk you can often find a little peak to yourself or a close compadre. The guys in yellow and red have your backs here too.
Sennen
Take a tent, stay a while and enjoy the beauty of this place. Beautiful walks and incredible views in abundance. On low tide you can walk around to Gwenver and explore the fun waves on offer. Lifeguarded throughout the summer.
Penhale
Miles of long sandy beach, peaks all along, we’ve spent many a long summer day here nestled in the dunes waiting for the right tide and wind, armed with longboards and fun shapes to make the most of the crumbly summer peaks. No lifeguards on duty here so know your limits.
St Agnes
Summer isn’t when Aggie shines on the surf front but it’s a special place for a swim. 800 metres from our workshop it’s the perfect pre lunch dip. And sometimes, just occasionally a little wave sneaks through under the radar. Lifeguarded throughout the summer.
