Since the age of silent movies, film and TV makers have used Cornwall’s dramatic scenery as a backdrop. From box office favourites to tv programmes like Doc Martin, Delicious, Poldark and only recently the new Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon are all filmed on location in Cornwall. Our German visitors will also recognise locations from the adaptations of Rosamunde Pilcher series which are hugely popular.
Cornwall has and still is the home to many authors, our most famous being Daphne Du Maurier, whose novels Frenchman’s Creek and Rebecca are all set here, as well as Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth.

Get a glimpse of Poldark locations with a quick self-drive, one day tour taking in both the south and north Cornish coasts.
A tranquil blend of lush green countryside and pretty coastline, scattered with hidden bays, traditional fishing villages and exotic gardens, the stunning south Cornish coast is as beautiful as it gets. Its harbours have been a haven for ships for millennia, they’re where Cornwall’s maritime history plays out and where your Poldark journey begins…
Buffeted by Atlantic waves, Cornwall’s north coast is an expanse of cliffs, bays, beaches and clusters of seaside villages and towns. Being home to a large part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, it is well endowed when it comes to Poldark connections.
