furniss

Our journey starts back in 1886 when master baker, John Cooper Furniss opened his first teashop in the Cornish city of Truro, where he would work every night into the small hours preparing delicious gingerbreads and celebrated Cornish Fairings ready to serve the next day. His passion for using the best local ingredients and exacting attention to detail quickly secured the Furniss teashop a reputation for serving up the tastiest biscuits in town. Soon orders were pouring in from surrounding areas, and the Furniss journey began.

In 2006 Furniss became part of the locally owned Proper Cornish Food Company. Some 135 years on, still baking biscuits with the same passion as Mr Furniss himself – creating unique and exceptional biscuits, we make, bake and pack all products at our Cornish bakery for the enjoyment of today’s consumers. Award winning products are now sold all over the UK and exported around the World.

We are absolutely delighted that Furniss has been commissioned to design and supply two bespoke, dual branded biscuit drums for G7, one containing our hero product “The Original Cornish Fairing”, and the other chosen flavour being our delicious Cornish Clotted Cream Shortbread. Proudly bearing the G7 branding, the biscuit drums will be available in the delegates’ rooms for them to enjoy a true taste of Cornwall at their leisure.
